Makeup Tips Are Endless • 09.19.09
Ever since I discovered the magic of makeup, I have been obsessed with the correct shade of foundation. I have tried various brands whereby the ultimate look of the foundation ended up with me looking like a clown with the white base. Thus, I kept looking for new shades without realising that I could mix the shades as if I was doing art. Now I know why I failed my art for ‘O’ Levels.
Therefore, I searched the Internet for makeup tips and found myself being hit with a huge ton of links and the common advice for the foundation shade of testing it near the base of the jawline and the start of the neck is the best advice. It always works. Except, I might have to buy more shades of the foundation if I were to start tanning and un-tanning in the sunny Singapore. Wait, I can just mix the colours. Note to self: Remember to mix the shades.
As for eyeshadows, I am overwhelmed. As I didn’t know that I could carry off dark blue so well! That was done by a certified makeup artiste whose favourite makeup techniques are mostly for the everyday look. She is awesome as well as generous with dishing out the answers while I asked her a lot of questions. I am thinking of using her service for the parents during my wedding (of course parents must look presentable too!).
I found out that for choosing eyeshadows, I can just choose a colour that contrast with my clothes for better effect. Besides, Asian eyes do look good with blue and green as brown is a universal colour. I am so going to get all the colours available and play around with it. Nadnut does it very well with blue too.
Having used pink and browns for my eyeshadows most of the time, it’s high time to play with all the available shades and mix them to create new looks. It doesn’t have to be boring to go to work using the routine colours. Going to work is already a routine and I like to have variety. It so appears that my current workplace (for the time being), I am the only one with adventurous looking eyeshadows
