A Mind of My Own

Sometimes, I wonder if females, the so-called weaker sex, earn more or males earn more. A quick search shows that men earn more than women. See, the top 10 richest people in the world are men in 2006. M E N! And China, ah, the growing powers of their rich. Seems that they are catching up with their Western counter parts. And Miss Yang Huiyan, just 26, inherited her billions due to her father. In the end, it’s the man yet again.

The list of billionaires are predominantly men. What about Singapore’s list then? Ah ha! Still mostly men! So this little research of mine shows that men earn more despite their late start into their careers. Don’t complain if you have to “waste” 2 years of your youth in NS. Because ultimately, men earn more in the long run.

I have encountered a speed bump. Was informed by my superior that I may not have the chance to transfer to the other department as I didn’t have the paper qualifications. Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone in the department that I wished to join. Would have made the transition a lot easier. I’ll be working towards it still. I just have to write a few samples and submit to her and see if she can get them to take a look at them.

I hope to prove that despite the lack of the papers, I can still make it. Meanwhile, I’ll try out other ways and see what’s the results. I must persevere. Someone did and has been happy with it.

I’m totally not in the holiday mood either. I’m just demoralised at work. Something is not right even though I’ve been trying to make the thing last. Apparently, the straw has been broken and now, I’m just here and trying to work it out but faced with the constant issue of the dreaded error message and no matter what alternatives I tried, the error stays.

And I don’t think it’s this error that’s causing me to pull out my nicely curled hair. It’s me feeling low today. Something was triggered this week. I haven’t been smiling or really laughing heartily today, especially.

Upon graduation, we have to look for jobs. We will try via friends, recruitment agencies and online resources. With all these resources, we hope to land with a job that will offer lucrative remuneration so that we can work towards our retirement plan.
