What to Do When You Need Money?12.03.08

I love money. Hands up for those who don’t! There! See? Nobody has their hands up! All your hands are on the mouse and the keyboard, right? I clever, right? :P

When one is rich, what does one do? Buy property and stuff. When one is poor, what does one do? Sell the assets to raise the funds just so one can eat and take the public transport. Check out Claudia’s Garage and Bazaar, the latter is obviously by yours truly.

I have rummaged for stuff in my closet and cabinets. I realised that I have kept all my birthday gifts up there somewhere and never used them. What a waste. I have cups, wind chimes, teddy bears and many more. So, why are they in the cupboards? I don’t want them to get dirty! They are gifts from my friends even though I have lost contact with a few of them.

Unfortunately, I need the money. So, do I sell them off? Will you kill me if I do that?

I have found textbooks that are more than 8 years old. I seriously doubt that anyone would want to buy such old books. One of them is worst for the wear too. I have the full collection of Samurai X comic books in Chinese that I will be keeping for my own collection since they are no longer in mint condition.

I will be selling off the stuff that I have dug out from my closet and cupboards since I am no longer needing them and most of them are still in their original packaging. I wonder why on earth do I buy them when I don’t even use them. Oh wait, the shopping streak in me.

If you want new or eco-friendly jewellery or clothes, check out Cheri Divas.

Handmade Accessories for Daily Wear10.20.08

Women love accessories. I love them too. I have earrings of various lengths and types. In my hunt for jewellery pieces that are not worn by anyone else, I realised that I have to make my own otherwise I will be seeing everyone wearing that same piece.

Who doesn’t want to be unique? There pieces that I sell too. I try to go for light-weight pieces that are suitable for daily wear and those hook-ons since it’s faster. As of this moment, seasonal pieces are for sale. They are also suitable for daily wear too.

Clothes, earrings and necklaces are currently in stock at Cheri Divas. Free gifts for purchases made is also available. Free gifts are while stocks last.

Escapade With Making Beads09.23.08

It isn’t so easy as it looks when watching those Youtube videos about making beads from strips of paper. The beads are so pretty when glossed over after the glue has dried that I wanted to try the same thing too. Especially that glass bead lookalikes.

Hence, I found old magazines that cried out loud for new life. I measured and cut the papers of selected pages. Found some newspapers and toothpicks. And off I went to bead them. After they have dried, I used some gloss enamel for making them harder.

It took 2 days to be fully dried and I attempted to take them off the toothpicks. 20% of the beads were successfully taken off. The rest, I had to use force and my index fingers nearly got blisters. So, I tried with pliers. The beads were nearly deformed. In the end, I threw away my hard work and searched for help to prevent them from sticking to the toothpicks.

Ah ha! I found that all I had to do was to use Vaseline! Nice. Unfortunately, I have no such Vaseline for years since the smell wasn’t that fantastic. Hence, I used Tiger Balm. A very bad idea as I forgot that after using herbal balms, I can’t wash my hands. That was after I have washed away the white glue.

In the end, I have poked a tiny hole in my left index finger with the beading needle and cut the bottom of my right palm with a toothpick during the attempt to remove the needle from the bead. With a small plaster near the wrist, it looks like I have attempted to cut myself instead of doing something simple; making paper beads.

My Fascination with Jewellery08.25.08

Silver Scroll Earrings

I have loved to buy jewellery and have tons of earrings. DD will attest to that since he sees me wearing different ones every time :P I like earrings as it’s easier to change them than necklaces. With some encouragement from Endoh and a few friends including DD, I decided to make my own pair by mixing and matching the ones that I have.

My first attempt was to create a pair of mismatched earrings. It turned out to be rather nice. Since then, I have made a few more pairs. The rest are matching earrings. I hope to be selling them off once I get my site settled in.

Currently, I am in love with wire wrapping and have been sourcing Etsy for inspirations. There is a huge collection of wire-wrapped necklaces, pendants, earrings and bracelets. I hope to find some materials that are suitable for sensitive skin too. Therefore, my preference is to silver since I have sensitive skin for non-pure elements.

At this moment, sterling silver is expensive to buy and I can’t find any shops that sell silver wire for my wire wrapping purposes. I have gone to Chinatown and Arab Street based on recommendations. I do understand that Spotlight sells such stuff but in small packets that I feel is too expensive.

When I was in Arab Street, I saw Xiaxue. The owner told me after he asked if it was my first time there and out of curiosity, I was wonder who the blond girl was and realised that it was her.

More Jewellery From Cuteable03.13.08

I’m swooning from cuteness! Cuteable has yet again introduced another shop selling charms and earrings and felt toys. This shop is called The Tiny Fig. For more earrings that aren’t sold in Singapore, try Yellowfish or Curly Girl Glass, or Julie Garland.

Another way to save the earth would be using recycled paper, however, Frucci went a step further, making them into accessories. How about wearing tags as earrings?
