Up Made Me Cry!

Having seen the preview of Up by Pixar, DD and I were anticipating for it since the GPS dropped out of the sky by Russell. However, I didn’t expect the unbelievably cute clouds making babies of both animals and humans to be carried out by their storks to the respective homes. It was called Partly Cloudy as a short film just before Up was to be shown.

I love the poor cloud who was tasked with making the other kinds of animals from shark to porcupines to rams. He was really happy with his creations but when his stork arrived, the poor stork was abused by the babies’ natural instincts. Despite the abuse, the stork still loved his cloud and it showcased the strong friendship bonds between the two of them.

Up is about this old man who finally decided to take an adventure in his house literally. I just want to put a disclaimer, helium filled balloons can’t really carry a house no matter how many of them are tied to the chimney. What really touched was the meaning behind this whole adventure. We should grab hold of every chance that we have in life as we may not get a second chance again.

This movie may make the adults who understand the meaning behind the scenes cry while making the kids confused as to why their parents were wailing their hearts out. After watching this movie, I demand that someone create a real collar that allows the dogs to be able to talk.

The Holidays Are Coming!

Christmas is coming and I am so excited! That is if I can ever clear the mountain of papers sitting on my desk. I managed to dump all the bills that have been paid for more than 10 months. The only thing that went through my mind as I tore them up was that I want a shredder.

Shredders remind me of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles because Shredder was the bad guy and he could shred anyone into pieces. Well, not really since he has two sidekicks, Bebop and Rock Steady. I was thinking if it would be great that I could shred those bills into tiny pieces.

You won’t know which thief would still your personal data and use it their advantages. Therefore, since I couldn’t tear them into really tiny pieces, I had to add water to the bag so that the paper will rot faster. Nice tip from Mom. Mothers are there for a reason.

Meanwhile, besides my NaNoWriMo, I’ve also been busy with building up the online stores for the holidays shopping. Here’s what you can find below.

I Love Carebears!

I used to watch Carebears. They are cute and cuddly with puffy cheeks to boot! Thinking back now, the plots sometimes feel a bit silly but then again, when the carebears stand together to fight the enemy, you don’t want to be in their way.

My favourite is Love-a-lot Bear. I love the hearts on her tummy. Secret Bear is another of my favourite. Now, that’s enough pink bears for a while. Wish Bear would suit me right now. I wonder if they are being sold in any place right now. The other day, I passed by a shop and saw them being sold. However, it didn’t look that nice.

Children’s Day

It’s Children’s Day! How wonderful. Except, I’m not 12 years old anymore. The cartoons are being shown but I still prefer Kim Possible at the moment. There used to be Smurfs, Gummy Bears and other less violent cartoons. Now, it’s guns, tanks and some satellite dish shaped lasers to control the weather, sun and planets.

Even Superman looks violent, smashing all buildings, bullets flying here and there. I still want Samurai X to be shown, they claim it’s violent but look at Justice League, Superman, Batman and The Flash. Tell me which of them doesn’t have buildings being crushed, hit by torpedoes or the lasers?

Wielding swords is more violent than guns? Even One Piece had the time slot changed. I don’t know if the anime ever got to run finish the whole story.

Cartoons, Anime and Movies

During the farewell lunch for a colleague just last Friday, we were talking about cartoons and anime. The difference between them was debated rather animatedly. Not by me but two colleagues, one was saying that cartoons and anime are not different because they are the same. They both have characters being drawn and moving.

The other was saying there is a difference because anime is by the Japanese manga translated to TV. The topic got to explaining the meanings of anime, manga, comic, cartoons, etc. Hmm. It all started because of a question asking about Transformers. That was an innocent question and started the facinating debate of difference between anime and cartoon.

I remember watching She-Ra, He-Man, Transformers, My Little Pony, X-Men, Smurfs, Gummy Bears, Care Bears, and quite a few others related to bears. I wonder if at that time, the cartoonists found the bears facinating?

Finally, Transformers is going on the big screen. The real life movie is going to be shown on 7.4.7 which I assume is 7 Apr 2007.

X-Men, The Hulk, Superman, Swamp Thing and Batman have the honours of going big screen in the early years, especially Batman. It has been told by my brother that Beast Wars is the sequel to Transformers. The series is 3D with the characters being more colourful and the plot more confusing that I can’t follow. They are now beasts because of the major blast that occurred quite a number of years back. I don’t know the details because my brother would have lost his patience trying to tell the whole story of how Beast Wars came about.

The thing is that the lunch was meant for the colleague who was on her last day but we didn’t talk to her much except discussing the very interesting topic of yesteryear cartoons. That reminds me, I still like the first translation of Doraemon. 小叮当 sounds a lot better than 多拉A梦, right?
