Table Mess07.17.08

It is a well known fact that I have a messy table at home despite the numerous nagging from my dear mother. Modobs decided to create a new meme about office or home desks. Ah, great, just when I am no longer in my very neat cubicle.

Before I start, the rules:

  1. Describe your desk at the office or at home
  2. Put a picture of it if you can
  3. Explain why you sort it (or don’t)
  4. Tag other people

What’s there to describe a messy table? I can start with receipts from various stores I have purchased from, bills, used envelopes, box containing a piece of half completed cross-stitch, mobile phones, chargers for my mobile phones and bluetooth ear piece, laptop, external hard disk, makeup set, makeup brushes, 3 water bottles and a table lamp.

I have never measure how large my desk is, right now, it’s a mountain that is on a balance scale. My work desk is always very neat. Feeling proud of myself now. I just feel overwhelm to clean up the table at home. (Defensive mode).

I don’t sort it as it’s organised mess. I do pay my bills on time. I know where my makeup set is. I can find my chargers and whatever it is. I’m so glad that I’m following these tips.

Finally, I’m curious about desks of Miss Loi, DK and The Young Businessman.

Not Pampering Myself Today05.21.08

I would usually pamper myself on this day. This year, I didn’t really pamper myself because I have given myself the early gift of perfect eyesight by Lasik. Expensive, that was. A few friends SMS me wishing me Happy Birthday. CD, in India for work, MMS me with a birthday song. Even my mum SMS me too. I wiped a tear from the corner of my eye.

DD called me last night to be the 1st one to wish me. 2 poly friends wished me via SMS yesterday. On the day of the makeover at DeCharacter, ES, NL and HF treated me for dinner after the makeover. So sweet. I don’t have to pay for the makeover as it’s gift, right? :P
During the makeover, we had fun with the poses. I was often told to open my eyes bigger as mine are the smallest pair among the 5. I want bigger eyes. I wonder if I go Korea, I will get bigger pair of eyes. Upon the output of the photos, I was really disappointed. My eyes were simply too small next to the group of girls. I shall never. Ever. Have any group photos with them again. In addition, anyone with huge eyes shall not take any photos next to me.

I blame my dad for giving me tiny eyes. I blame my mum for giving me high eyebrows. My eyes already so tiny and yet she gave me high eyebrows positions! Ok, so it’s the genetics issue. Can doctors change the genetics such that next time, my children won’t inherit tiny eyes? Wait, if they don’t then they won’t be my children, what am I talking about?

It’s a pity that I don’t have any leaves to take as my contract is ending soon. Thus, won’t be able to take some time off work for today. Besides, I prefer long weekends.

And I need a new job.

An Open Letter to HSBC04.28.08

Dear HSBC,

Thank you for your enthusiasm in getting your agency to contact me so that I can receive a credit card from you. The first time, I applied, I was rejected. No reason given. Fine. Thus, I decided that it wasn’t worth the effort of contacting your staff to verify why.

The second time, I was contacted about a few months later by one of your agency that I was to be given a HSBC Dual Card (Gold). Not. I was first rejected the Personal Line of Credit. Then, I was rejected the card saying that I didn’t provide complete credentials.

I believe it is time that HSBC can stop contacting me. I have given the SAME credentials for all my other credit cards and received NO rejections except from you. I am no longer interested in HSBC credit cards as I’m unable to take a third rejection should one of your agencies contact me again.

So, HSCBC, please STOP calling me to apply for your credit cards. I will HANG UP immediately without any reason whatsoever.

Regards

Get The Best Price04.09.08

They say women love shopping. They aren’t wrong by far. Ever saw that map where the red line stood for the path that a lady would make and the path where a man would make? Huge difference. Just buying clothes alone would need comparison. Imagine 8 boutiques that feature something that you like. You would want the best quality without paying for too much.

Even computers need to be compared. Walking around is tiring. That’s why I do my comparison online without killing my legs and making myself tired and cranky because I can’t seem to find my preferences.

We like to get the best price for what we want to use for a long time to come. It’s pointless to buy something that will spoil easily. I’ve been comparing computers each time I am considering buying one. Digxa provides comparison for television, digital cameras, furniture, cell phones and many others. All the legwork is done online, thus, killing two birds with one stone.

Thinking of iPhone03.05.08

JC has an iPhone. While it didn’t appeal to me at first due to the exorbitant cost, I was rather impressed with its features after playing with it. There is a programme to check for the first and last bus, GPS, Safari for surfing the net, multi-touch, widgets, maps and many other functions.

Now that the price has dropped, I’m thinking if I should get it instead of Sony Ericsson  X1. Sounds tempting. There’s also the wide selection of iPhone wallpapers for iPhone users too.  Not that wallpapers don’t exists for other models. Just that a typical iPhone wallpaper is just more visible than others.

For those geeks, you would like iPhone mods. You can install applications that you like and hold such a sleek iPhone in your hands. Games, jokes, quizzes, RSS news feeds, you name it, you got it. For those who are always on the road, you can get weather reports and road conditions.

I’m starting to drool to get my hands on an iPhone. Besides, the size is the same as my Dopod 838 Pro with a thinner width and cool interface. The sleek black design and the function to store photos so that I can show them off do sound good to me. That way, I can show off photos of me and DD.

Oh, the idea of listening to songs while my long train ride to work does appeal to me too. I should include it in my list of mobile phones to replace my Dopod.

2 Boys Take Upskirt Photo of Female Teacher02.04.08

I wonder what sort of environment gave the boys the liberty of taking photos of their teacher. They were caught attempting to take photos of her panties or possibly hoping for something with more skin. I didn’t realise that boys at age 14 are so deprived. Oh wait, they are from a boy’s school in North East.

So, boys, is your teacher hot and sexy?

The story

TWO 14-year-old boys tried to take upskirt photos of their female teacher last week.

They were caught when many of their classmates, who witnessed the incident, approached the teacher in question and told her what happened.

The result: The two boys will be publicly caned.

The teacher made a police report last Thursday.

This is not the first time that such an incident has happened in the boys’ school, located in the North-East.

Last year, two other boys were publicly caned for taking upskirt pictures of another teacher with their handphones.

Regarding last week’s incident, the school principal told my paper: “We confiscated the boys’ phones and found no evidence on them.

“They tried to take pictures but failed. Nevertheless, they will be caned publicly.”

The boys confessed that they did attempt to take the picture.

She added: “We always advise our teachers that since they are teaching in a boys’ school, they must be careful.

“They are also advised against sitting on tables if they are wearing skirts.”

However, she said, as most handphones now come with cameras, the problem has become more complex.

She said: “There is the problem of them forwarding the obscene pictures to their friends.”

To counter this, the school has banned the use of handphones in classrooms.

She added: “If they are caught, we will confiscate their handphones.

“And if we find pornographic or upskirt pictures in the phone, we will hand them over to the police.”

She added that she does not tell her teachers not to wear skirts because it gives the wrong impression that the teacher is at fault.

She said: “This suggests that it’s their (the teachers’) dressing that provokes the boys to take the pictures and this is wrong.”

The police confirmed that a report has been filed and are investigating the matter.

Wasted 30 Min on Watching Ads08.19.07

Came back from GV Max after watching The Bourne Ultimatum. There was a lucky draw to win an Acer Gem Aspire 7720G. Was hoping that DD would win, alas, it went to a young man. I was hoping to play with it 1st. Too bad.

The show started at 4.30pm with 30 minutes of advertisements. 30 long minutes wasted on advertisements. The other time I went to Cineleisure to watch Rush Hour 3, the show started immediately after all the talk ended. This was badly arranged. Why didn’t The New Paper instructed GV to start immediately instead of wasting 30 minutes of watching the advertisements?

The movie itself was ok. It wasn’t that packed with action. Most of the scenes with fighting and running left me clueless. I couldn’t even see which hand struck who and who was winning the fight. Can’t say I really enjoyed it even though it was free. Not to forget, the free gifts below. A notebook and a mobile strap.

The notebook and the handphone strap.

I left out the notepad but it contains the The New Paper logo anyway. Unfortunately, DD had to go back to work. Was hoping to spend the rest of the day otherwise un-lonely.

Unwanted Calls From Falungong06.20.07

Seems that Falungong is getting agressive. They have started on calling our mobile to gather feelings for them. Yep, I have started to gather my feelings, mostly, negative. The more aggressive you are, the more I want to stay far, far away from ya. So, stay away, ok?

Mobile call from Falungong Irritated with the constant harping about victims being totured. The solution is to hang up. There is no caller ID because they are using Skype and other VOIP to contact us. I sure hope there will be one day we are able to block individual calls as in how we are filtering spam by email. Not very effective but it’s a start.

You Up, I Up Too06.13.07

Price hikes everywhere. Now, isn’t that great? Businesses are looking up and they can monopolise because they are the only ones who provide such services. First, GST. Then, NETS. Now, Starhub. Next would be supermarkets increasing their product prices after a month. What’s the use of saying the increase would be done later?

It doesn’t make a difference. As July 1st draws near, more companies will be announcing their prices are changing according to the GST. That is called profiteering. They can up the prices and claim that it’s the GST. Oh, not to forget that bus and train rides had increased theirs recently, surely they won’t hit us again?

I went to a handphone shop once and asked for the price of a handphone. It cost $400. After playing around with it, I decided that the cost was ok and the handphone was good enough and went ahead to buy. However, the calculated cost was more than $400 because they only add GST after you have decided to purchase. This has happened to me countless times. Why can’t they declare inclusive of GST instead of luring people in and then add GST? That’s cheating consumers. Consumers don’t like to be cheated.

Things never get cheaper. Prices always go up. Take movie ticket prices for example. Sure, our tickets are cheaper than other countries where they may cost SGD15 - SGD20 but we still watch because the VCDs and DVDs are expensive until a few years or months later.

So, shall we guess which company is going to increase their prices?
