A friend of mine emailed me this link about this 64-year-old man who auditioned for American Idol. He got a petition to get him in because his late wife had encouraged him to do it. He did it because she was dying of cancer and he wanted to do it for her. Prepare tissue hor! He sang very well too!

Happiness in Life07.04.06

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 am, when an elderly gentleman, in his 80’s, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redressed his wound.

While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. I asked him if he had an important appointment that morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I then inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer Disease. As we talked, and I finished dressing his wound, I asked if she would be worried if he was a bit late.

He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now. I was surprised, and asked him. “And you still go every morning, even though she doesn’t know who you are?”

He smiled as he patted my hand and said.”She doesn’t know me, but I still know who she is.” I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose pimples on my arm, and thought, “That is the kind of love I want in my life.”

True love is neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

“The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything;
they just make the best of everything that comes along their way.”

“Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be.”

Happiness doesn’t depend on what u have but what u satisfy & contented with.
Try looking at the simple side of life, don’t make life around you so complicated.
It’s how you make others happy rather than how you want others to make you happy.

The Brick07.02.06

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.

As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag’s side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown.

The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, “What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are! you doing? That’s a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?”

The young boy was apologetic. “Please, mister..please, I’m sorry but I didn’t know what else to do,” He pleaded. “I threw the brick because no one else would stop…”

With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. “It’s my brother,” he said. “He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can’t lift him up.”

Camels06.25.06

Camel friend at the camel place [via Webshots]

A mother and a baby camel were lazing around, and suddenly the baby camel asked ….

Baby: Mother, mother, may I ask you some questions?

Mother: Sure! Why son, is there something bothering you?

Baby: Why do camels have humps?

Mother: Well son, we are desert animals, we need the humps to store water and we are known to survive without water.

Baby: Okay, then why are our legs long and our feet rounded?

Mother: Son, obviously they are meant for walking in the desert. You know with these legs I can move around the desert better than anyone does! Said the mother proudly.

Baby: Okay, then why are our eyelashes long? Sometimes it bothers my sight.

Mother: My son, those long thick eyelashes are your protective cover. They help to protect ur eyes from the desert sand and wind. Said mother camel with eyes brimming with pride….

Baby: I see. So the hump is to store water when we are in the desert, the legs are for walking through the desert and these eye lashes protect my eyes from the desert…… Then what the hell are we doing here in the Zzzoooooo!!!!!!???

MORAL OF THE STORY: Skills, knowledge, abilities and experiences are only useful if you are at the right place (where are you right now???????? )

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“Love your job but never fall in love with your company, because you never know when the company stops loving you!!!”

Don’t Bring Home Your Problems06.24.06

Below is a story sent to me and I find it so appropriate for all of us.
Whether you are married or not, have children or not, do not bring home your problems which you encountered at work.
Smile to your family as they are the ones who you can get support from and the ones who need your support.
So smile and enjoy the very little time you have with them. You probably see them between 6pm-11pm weekday and that's about 4 hours a day or 20 hours a week on weekdays. Include the weekends, say 12 hours each for Saturday and Sunday, that will only be 48 hours a week. It will be very sad for all of us to have to spend only 2 full days a week to frown at their sight.
——————————————————————

The carpenter I hired to help me restore an old farmhouse had just finished a rough first day on the job. A flat tyre made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw quit and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence.

On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked towards the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

When opening the door he underwent an amazing transformation. His tanned face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward he walked me to the car. As we passed the tree, my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

"Oh that's my trouble tree", he replied. "I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing for sure, troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning I pick them up again. "Funny thing is," he smiled, "when I come out in the morning to pick them, there ain't nearly as many as I remembered hanging up the night before".

——————————————————————–
Morale of the story

  1. Always Smile & The Whole World Will Smile With You Too!!!
  2. Do not bring your work problems home.
  3. Tomorrow is another day it will bring new opportunities, as long as you have given your best for the day, you have peace of mind.

Some Things I’ve Learnt06.24.06

I’ve learned….
That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

Old man
I’ve learned….
That when you’re in love, it shows.

Two Hearts

I’ve learned….
That just one person saying to me, “You’ve made my day!” makes my day.

Change in Life’s Outlook06.24.06

Blind beggar [via Flickr uploaded by adrenalin]

A blind man sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet and a sign that read:

“I am blind, please help”.

A creative publicist was walking by him and stopped to observe he only had a few coins in his hat. He dropped a few more coins into his hat and without saying anything, took the sign, turned it around, and wrote on it. He placed the sign by the blind man’s feet and left.

That afternoon, the creative publicist returned by the blind man and noticed that his hat was full of bills and coins. The blind man recognized his footsteps and asked if it was him who had re-written his sign and he wanted to know what did he write on it? The publicist responded: “Nothing that was not true, I just rewrote your sign differently”.

He smiled and went on his way. The blind man never knew but his new sign read:

“TODAY IS SPRING AND I CANNOT SEE IT”.

Change your strategy when something does not go your way.
Present yourself in a different way when things are not working out.
A change in outlook can turn your life around.

A Call From Heaven06.24.06

A : Hello. Did you call me?

B: Called you? No. who is this?

A : This is heaven. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.

B: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something..

A: What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.

B: Don’t know. But I cant find free time. Life has become hectic. It’s rush hour all the time.

A : Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.

B: I understand. But I still cant figure out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.

A: Well I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.

B: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?

Be Patient06.18.06

This is a true story which happened in the States. A man came out of his home to admire his new truck. To his puzzlement, his three-year-old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck. The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's hands into pulp as punishment. When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital.

Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he finally had to amputate the fingers from both the boy's hands. When the boy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs, he innocently said, "Daddy, I'm sorry about your truck." Then he asked, "but when are my fingers going to grow back?" The father went home & committed suicide.

Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or u wish to take revenge. Think first before u lose your patience with someone u love. Trucks can be repaired.. Broken bones & hurt feelings often can't. Too often we fail to recognize the difference between the person and the performance. We forget that forgiveness is greater than revenge.

People make mistakes. We are allowed to make mistakes. But the actions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever.
