Job Change Woes04.30.08

Trying to change jobs can be tough. It took a friend of mine a year to totally change hers. It’s going to take a whole lot tougher for my case as I’m seen as someone who is more of a technical person due to my IT background than a writer.

Perhaps I’m hoping for too much but rejection from the same company twice is too much for my ego. I believe I have the talent for writing, yeah, right. I believe I can do better than those news being put in print, like I can write more engaging stories.

I wonder if I have been in this line for too long, lost track of my favourite passion; reading or I haven’t been polishing my writing skills quite up to par. Blogging doesn’t really count as it’s just my thoughts flowing and I don’t re-read for this blog. I just hit ‘Submit’ and the post is there.

That’s why I have to edit my posts a few times these days. Have I lost my touch? Or I just need more polishing, writing and reading? Trips to the library have been rare these days. I used to have this way of engaging the readers to my words and let them feel the characters’ emotions.

These days, the words fail to flow and run like a river. I should focus more on niche sites than this site. It’s distracting. I really ought to focus.

Anyone needs a freelance writer? I write technical specifications, thesis, reports and proof-reading. My fiction can be found here.

The Management Has Been Right for 40 Years and More04.23.08

I am seriously wondering if there is something wrong. Or perhaps, nothing is wrong. It’s just that when one has the power or authority for more than 40 years, one tend to be led into thinking that it can be used in any way and the powers that be should never, ever, be doubted.

Are we doubting it now? Perhaps. Since all these years, it has never, ever, said it was wrong in anyway. Wow. How infallible. With 40 years of management under its belt, it will not be wrong at any one time.

I have failed before. I have mistakes in my work. There were times when my mind was simply too tired or overworked to even think properly. We are only humans. Even animals make mistakes.

Ultimately, it’s always the ones who are at the bottom who are at fault. When employees quit, what is the reason? The one that is never spoken out loud but a survey proved it. There are also ways to get someone to quit too.

Anyway, I digress. It’s not about pushing the blame so that you get to keep your position. It’s about accepting that somewhere along the way, a decision wasn’t made that well and it led to this. It led to a Mas Selamat escaping from that window. A ledge was even built under it to facilitate his escape when others have failed to notice it. Neither the grilles were built nor the window’s size reduced.

Even shopping centres have smaller toilet windows or none. Men would say, “How come there is a door for the urinals? They have never, ever, encountered such a toilet that gives you the privacy, rather intimate since 2 men can enjoy their business by closing the door.

Let’s not even get to the discussion about CCTV in the area but not activitated.

My Ex-Boss: Professor Manager04.18.08

I used to have this manager who treated us very well. He would also be environmental conscious, which is very rare for a company although it is ISO 9001 certified. There was once we had to keep some keys temporarily and he produced clear plastic bag from magazines. The ones that magazines are kept in for sending. Our jaws dropped.

He has a mean streak when playing badminton. I heard the other ex-colleagues often can’t beat him. Thankfully, I didn’t take part since I would have been humiliated with my pitiful skills. He was a national champion in his own country. That’s why no one in the department could win against him.

When we first heard of his name, the literal translation “Professor” came to mind. I think he did have a bachelor degree, can’t remember if he did a Ph.D though. He would speak professionally, if that didn’t sound like a professor, I don’t know what did.

He even accepted my request for being my referee. How sweet of him. Wonder why I’m thinking of him. Maybe I miss working with him as he would be sociable and offer his help.

Cash Advance, Anyone?04.03.08

In life we need to get loans for expensive stuff such as buying cars and a flat. Everyone knows that you can’t possibly use all your money in the bank to pay off the car and flat. You need some sort of loan to pay off so that you are not financially strapped down paying the debts. Cash Advance may just provide you the necessary money.

You don’t need to have any credit checks unlike banks where they love to know your financial details such as income and CPF amount. Applying for one is easy, you don’t even have to leave your home.

Money is often an issue in the family. You want to hold a wedding dinner, you need money. You want to attend the university to pursue that coveted degree, you need money. You want to attend the F1 race, you need money. In fact, everything needs money.

I Buy Too Much Clothes03.18.08

When I first started working, I wore T-shirts and jeans to work. I didn’t need to wear any formal clothes because I had to change into the uniform provided. I didn’t need to crack my head about what I was going to wear the next day.

After I changed my workplace, I had to do some shopping. I had no fashion sense whatsoever. My clothes were often of the plain old blouse with white and pink. Even my pants were of mostly the ’safe’ colour, black. I should have gone to check out New York fashion schools to help me in my fashion sense.

Maybe I could have taken a course with Westwood College Online that is a fashion school in New York to help me in merchandising. I could be earning my 1st million now and more after that. Who wouldn’t want to have a great sense of fashion and still be earning big bucks?

I now have too much clothes that I don’t wear that often. I still remember the 80/20 rule. 20% of the clothes are worn 80% of the time. I bet fashion schools New York would be able to help me.

When Do I Change?03.10.08

Here I am faced with the option of continuing my contract or not. It seems that I have to renew it at this moment. I was looking forward to a change of job scope instead. Looks like I’m stuck at it for the moment. Might as well earn some more money since I’m still able to do it.

I’m just wondering how long I should give myself to working towards a change; 6 months or a year?

Trade With Sense02.21.08

I want to retire rich and young. Sounds like a dream, right? As long as I don’t take any action, it will always be a dream. Money doesn’t come easy. We have to work long days just earn that extra $100 for paying off the bills and have some for food.

While some may dabble in stocks, is there a way to be able to actually make a killing in stocks? That’s provided you know when to sell and when to buy. One doesn’t gamble in stocks, one makes use of stocks for getting out of the rut.

There’s a difference between trading, speculating and gambling. Obviously, since gambling is just putting your money without the odds being in your favour. Not everyone is able to go into trading and stay focused.

Trading needs a lot of effort to be put in the first time. You build up your own system and checklist that is working for you. You alone control where your money will go. You reduce your risks. Finance isn’t just about saving up for studies, retirement or kids. It’s for life.

Tuesday Movie: Fool’s Gold02.20.08

After watching Fool’s Gold, I wanted to visit the places where they have clear blue sea. And find a few treasures to auction off. With the sun pelting down and getting a tan, watching babes and hunks by the beach playing beach volleyball and the clear blue sea, it is heaven.

This movies stars Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson as a couple who renew their love for each other despite a divorce to find the Queen’s Dowry. Ah, the adventures begin. I find that Benjamin gets hit on the head almost every time he attempted to appease Big Bunny. Ouch. The most painful part I guess must be when his ex-wife knocked him out with an old man’s cane. That must have hurt a lot.

While some found this movie average, I found it quite funny. Since I have no previous movie with the leads in another movie, a comparison would be unfair. I went because DD passed to me a pair of free tickets he had won in a contest from The New Paper. The goodies were the same except with a pair of calendars.

This time, I don’t know how long we spent watching the ads. Managed to find someone who was available to watch it with me. Meet my new lover, HF. She enjoyed it too. Thanks, DD.

Edison Chen and His Babes02.12.08

The year initially started off with the demise of MC King. Just 3 weeks later, sexy photos of Edison Chen, Cecilia Cheung, Bobo Chan (who the heck is she?) and Gillian Chung were plastered all over the net. The photos (NSFW) were initially suspected to be photoshopped.

However, online CSI-tizens dissected the images and compared them with fully clothed celeb photos and compared them with the nude photos of Cecilia and confirmed them to be authentic. Apparently, Vincy Yeung, the doted niece of Albert Yeung has been embroiled in the scandal too. There are various camps on his actions and the actions. I don’t care whether they were drunk, drugged or not. Perhaps, the directors or producers could have given them some saucy roles so that they didn’t have to role play with Edison and his babes.

He has a supportive fan too and it’s none other than Steven Lim. I couldn’t bear to listen to the video because it was too whiny.

Some links I have found concerning the guy who loved taking naked babes.

Gillian Chung of Twins [via Flickr]

While the mastermind has gone to United States to get away from the heat, Gillian had come out to apologise after his apology. When the news arrived, there were claims that Gillian attempted suicide, Cecilia’s marriage was on the rocks and now, it seems that Edison had attempted suicide due to the pressure.

With Hong Kong police arrested a number of ‘malicious’ uploaders, the public have cried foul due to the heavy-handed way. One particular question was raised and unanswered was the age of Vincy when her photos in the shower. It seems that age 16 is the legal age of consent and if the photos were taken when she was before 16, Edison Chen is in further trouble. His career is definitely on the rocks.

To think that Tammy’s NYP videos were hot.

What a start to 2008.

2 Boys Take Upskirt Photo of Female Teacher02.04.08

I wonder what sort of environment gave the boys the liberty of taking photos of their teacher. They were caught attempting to take photos of her panties or possibly hoping for something with more skin. I didn’t realise that boys at age 14 are so deprived. Oh wait, they are from a boy’s school in North East.

So, boys, is your teacher hot and sexy?

The story

TWO 14-year-old boys tried to take upskirt photos of their female teacher last week.

They were caught when many of their classmates, who witnessed the incident, approached the teacher in question and told her what happened.

The result: The two boys will be publicly caned.

The teacher made a police report last Thursday.

This is not the first time that such an incident has happened in the boys’ school, located in the North-East.

Last year, two other boys were publicly caned for taking upskirt pictures of another teacher with their handphones.

Regarding last week’s incident, the school principal told my paper: “We confiscated the boys’ phones and found no evidence on them.

“They tried to take pictures but failed. Nevertheless, they will be caned publicly.”

The boys confessed that they did attempt to take the picture.

She added: “We always advise our teachers that since they are teaching in a boys’ school, they must be careful.

“They are also advised against sitting on tables if they are wearing skirts.”

However, she said, as most handphones now come with cameras, the problem has become more complex.

She said: “There is the problem of them forwarding the obscene pictures to their friends.”

To counter this, the school has banned the use of handphones in classrooms.

She added: “If they are caught, we will confiscate their handphones.

“And if we find pornographic or upskirt pictures in the phone, we will hand them over to the police.”

She added that she does not tell her teachers not to wear skirts because it gives the wrong impression that the teacher is at fault.

She said: “This suggests that it’s their (the teachers’) dressing that provokes the boys to take the pictures and this is wrong.”

The police confirmed that a report has been filed and are investigating the matter.
