Imagine your childhood friend comes along and tell you that he/she is having a business venture that is sure to have high returns and raving about how many people he/she has found. Would you want to know more? Of course! You would want to be a part of it even! Having prepared a sum of money that could be part of your marriage or other investment plans, you hope that the returns will be high since your good friend has raved about it so much.
However, when you arrived at your friend’s supposed workplace in hopes of passing him/her the money, the receptionist tells you that the friend is no longer working there for the past few weeks. After talking a while longer, the receptionist gently breaks the news that others have been cheated by this “friend” and all were school mates too.
You look at your envelope filled with money and get back to your routine job. A cheat, right? What kind of friend is this? I have no idea but I do hope that my friends are really good! Thankfully, I have good friends. The above scenario was shown in House, the series.
In desperate times, one would tend to listen to something that shouts “HUGE MONETARY RETURNS!” and forget to think logically. I would want to keep my friends and not cheat them with this low trick. Whatever it is, it is always good to do things with a clear conscience and sleep well at night.

Some years back, I had an ex friend/colleague once who recommended me to join internet HYIP once. He claimed that he earned a lot of money through it and wanting to share it, asked me to join in too. So I did, and invested a bit of money through it. But a short time later, it crashed.
Colleague said that it must have been a fluke and asked me to join another one. By the time, I was already quite wary.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Suffice to say, that too crashed and I was really pissed. Luckily I never invest more than I can afford to lose. But still, he was really sincere, he should have offered to reimburse me.
I think friends should never lend friends money.
Since money is a sensitive issue, I won’t lend money. I rather give dinner or lunch treats for good deeds. I’m so glad that you weren’t cheated of too much money.
