Depressing Outlook
The world is in a great panic. I don’t read the news much these days unless someone points a link to me saying something about some large bank is laying off staff while selling its shares to others. With this piece of news, the natural reaction of people who are anxious about their money, all the great withdrawing period will come.
Everyone will withdraw their money from the bank that is making huge changes financially and leaving even less money to go around. I am not sure if it’s a good or bad idea. When my mother heard the news about Citi Group, her first thoughts were to withdraw all her money from the bank if she had any and advised me to do the same too.
It is depressing now as everyone is affected by the crash and bankruptcy of major banks and insurance companies. The worst hit industries during such times are often from banks, manufacturing and financial related sectors. They are highly volatile because they depend largely on consumers and businesses.
Being laid off your job during such a difficult time can add on to the stress especially when you have reached a certain age and despite your excellent records, you are no longer being asked for interviews. Even when you get interviewed, you have to fight with 20 other applicants for that same role.
The interviewer often wants to know if you have other interviews lined up and about why you should be hired for that job. I don’t know how long this will last but it will take at least two years for the recession to reside while we continue our never-ending searches for jobs.
