The In Thing May Not Be For You05.31.07

I didn’t know that the “in” thing is not to wear your underwear a la Britney Spears. For guys? I didn’t know that. But check out what happened to this poor guy who got his, erm, his precious stuck in his zipper. His lady boss pinged, blogged and twittered for help. She even got down physically to examine it in the gents. o_O

He got photographed too. Poor thing. Best of all, that post got to the first page of Shin Ming News. 8O

Notes Notes Everywhere05.31.07

Stealing is not worth losing your job for. Apparently, lunch for some people is called Hot Pockets. Interesting, huh? It’s actually a brand name. Cool. To think that stealing other people’s lunch means you are left a note. It’s called Passive-Aggressive notes.

Even a note is left on how to use the microwave oven. I have seen such notes in the offices I worked in before but this takes the cake and brings across the message. Even a creamer being taken entitles you to a note to be curtius.

More on microwave oven woes, one should never leave smelly food that will lead to other notes. Apparently, the office has people full of notes.

Career Path Review05.30.07

Exam was today. The break from work didn’t really feel like a much needed break. Maybe it is. I have been depressed about my career path again. I think I like to do something that DK has aptly said, “they would say ‘WOW’“.

I must say that this has been going for months. Scary since I have left that highly stressful place for months.

I have been feeling low and moody again. Was talking to SH about our career paths since we have crossed the final huddle for the degree course. 4 years to complete this long and difficult degree while working full time. Amazing.

Again, I think I must have been crazy to take up the current job. I still have about 10.5 months to the end of the contract. After the initial crazy thought, I thought it was a good time to start work again but I was wrong. I’m no longer happy with my career path or the lack of it. A dream job is difficult to find.

I’m absolutely, utterly sick of programming. I am no longer performing in any job. I need out.

Latte Combo It Is05.29.07

After some time, I’ve decided to name my guinea pig Latte Combo. Latte for short. I’m still bonding with it. His chronicles are found here. I’ve decided to try Blogger for this round and see how is the result. For those who have given me idea, thanks. :)

Unfortunate Morning05.29.07

I was late for work this morning. Whenever I rush to do something, there’s always something to be forgotten. Today I forgot to bring my handphone. I feel so naked without it.

It was already too late to go home and get it because it would mean calling for a taxi when it’s way too expensive in the morning to call for one. To think I’m expecting a call today. Of all days, I had to forget.

The trip in the train was lousy. I had to stand all the way because the particular time meant a lot more people boarding from my stop and there wasn’t any seats left. I hate to stand for 45 minutes and I couldn’t even get a good nap because some guy shifted his foot and nearly crushed my new toe nail.

I want to go home :(

Pet Farms05.28.07

My skin’s peeling. Urgh. Not nice in any way. I’m more tan now. Would like to keep this tan though. Been a long time since I’ve been tan. Let’s see how to keep it.

I went to Wild Wild Wet again because there’s still some free tickets to be used. DD brought me to 3 different pet farms after that. All the puppies are cute! Some of the cats, such as Persians, Persian Cross are so cute! The Beagles and Golden Retrievers are so cute too! Ok, too many cute here. I know some of you might just want to puke if I say one more. Last one. Cute.
We went to Pet Movers, Ericsson Pet Farm and the smaller one next to Ericsson. I love the Persian Cross. They look so adorable and seemed to love to be hugged and cuddled. However, I don’t have the time to spend with pets that need a lot of interaction now. :(
To get to those pet farms, you’ll need to drive, the bus stop is too far. The best time to watch people train their dogs would be morning where the dogs are not so hot and sleepy.

My Baby05.27.07

I have a baby.

Guinea Pig

Muahaha~

You think a human baby? The best part of this is that it’s free. RK gave to me. I’m hoping to keep it long term. So, any soul want to have the honours of naming this lil critter?

I don’t have a good camera that is able to take macro shots. Maybe I should borrow from that friend of mine :D

Perfect Petzz05.26.07

For those who love dogs but are unable to own a real one, do check out PerfectPetzz. The sleeping puppies and kittens do breathe! I wonder how much does it take to actually buy the Golden Retriever puppy and ship it here.

Transport Issues05.25.07

So, we’re not the ones affected by the price of petrol. It’s set to go higher too. Everyone’s affected. The groceries have not been affected much but will it be more expensive just to eat?

Something related to transport, the Simei accident where a young boy got hit by a truck and passed away a few days ago has raised the question of “Must we wait until a tragedy has happened?” It seems that everything gets done only when something happens. I don’t think this is an isolated issue either. Look at the number of deaths related to cyclists being knocked down. Only when someone famous gets killed then the law will be changed. Isn’t that too late? A life, someone famous, must be lost before something is done to reduce the mortality rate.

A few weeks earlier, there was this driver who crashed into the bus stop, injuring 5 women. More stoppers are being placed in the bus stop. Some are changed to be re-enforced. The concrete stoppers may lower the impact. On the other hand, boarding the bus becomes another issue. The bus driver will have to stop a little further to the front or back of the bay just to allow passengers to board and alight without maneuvering around it. Other bus drivers stop further from the curb.

It goes to show that all the spoon-feeding has made us re-active instead of pro-active or being able to have the foresight and adopting the other viewpoint of the users.

UNSW Closed05.25.07

It’s a pity that University of New South Wales (Australia) decided to pull out of its venture in Singapore. However, I’m truly shocked that the students here pay the same amount as their students on their homeland. $26k to $29k is no small amount to be cough up every year. Despite that they get scholarships to study in Sydney for the affected students, it still does not include lodging, food and transport. These are basic needs.

Their reputation is truly affected because they have decided to pull out abruptly in just 3 months. Even the lecturers who have uprooted to come here to teach are affected. The consequence is not just the 148 students, the teachers and the students’ families are also affected.

The moral of the story is, take up a course when it’s been here for more than 3 years. So, you won’t have to be uprooted only to be told that you have to uproot again.
