Our Diets04.30.07

A point that has always been made across is that vegetarians are against killing animals because of the cruel ways of the livestock being killed. There have been photos circulating via email and I’ve seen them. It’s pretty gruesome. There are believers and disbelievers. We can’t control what they think or believe in. There will be desputes and this led to the following questions from a post I read.

In most of the countries like Austrelia Australia, the economy is mainly based on nurturing animals like lamb and they export its their meat to other countries and if one day, all the people decide not to eat meat, they become failure and does it really worth?

For what reasonable reason? Because of their cruelty and inhumanity? And what about the people that earn their money by killing animals and selling meats to continue their life?

Thus, if the reason for not eating meat is cruelty toward animals is not reasonable, if we think realistically rather than sensibly about this subject.

This is an intriguing post but I had some problems trying read and understand it because it’s all lump into a huge paragraph. For readability’s sake, I try to break it into meaningful paragraphs and proofread. The above is the best I could break up into because there are some incoherent parts that I couldn’t make head or tails of them.

I don’t understand why the reason for not buying meat can’t be “it’s cruelty against animals”. I seriously doubt that everyone in the world would stop buying meat and go vegetarian in a day.

I personally feel that it’s the taste of meat that keeps most people strongly unable to convert to eating meatless. I have encountered people who said they can’t stand a day without some meat. Some have described themselves as “carnivores”.

It is believed that plants are eaten because they don’t have souls. They are not reincarnated from souls. The cycle of eating animals continue as long as we eat them. It is also said that we are taking our revenge by eating meat. We are stuck in the reincarnation cycle as long as we keep eating our enemies or relatives who have reincarnated as the animals. How do I know that I’m not eating my great-grandmother who passed away? I don’t know. But revenge can take other forms by the animals such as snakes.

I stick to my reason is that I have the rights to choose what to eat.

I Feel Weak04.30.07

I have the darkest eye rings ever. It got darker when I woke up this morning. My eyes have become smaller too. They are tiny enough but with the recent late nights and chalet, I am going to turn into a panda with tiny beady eyes. A headache is coming on too.

I’m going to fall sick soon if I don’t get enough rest and water.

The Loud Ones04.29.07

It has been a long day. I’m sleepy and tired. Were supposed to meet up with DD’s friends at 10.30am but the delay was till 2.30pm when the first 2 arrived. The rest subsequently arrived quickly after that. We had planned to go have some fun in Wild Wild Wet because of the complimentary tickets but didn’t go because we didn’t know what time they would arrive.

What a waste. I had planned extra clothes only to bring them back again without needing a new change of clothes. My family had went yesterday for some relaxation. Like I said, it felt more modern than getaway from modernisation. The Internet connection was lousy. DD couldn’t even get a signal. However, without that modernisation, the toilet wouldn’t be that great. What a contradiction.

The morning brought some rain and some peace and quiet. The next door neighbours had moved in on Saturday to party late into the night. I think they slept at 4am. I woke up a couple of times only to hear their loud talking. Their music started again in the afternoon and in the evening, their loud games. I call them the Loud Ones. They want everyone to know their presence. No wonder I hate to stay overnight at chalet sometimes. The air-con is good to sleep in but the walls are not sound proof. Oh, by the way, their singing can slaughter pigs too.

Lonely Chalet04.28.07

I’m so tired. Having been away from Downtown East for quite a long time, there are renovations going on to build 5 new cinemas and shopping area. Frankly speaking, we’re getting so pampered these days that going on a chalet doesn’t really feel like chalet anymore. The relaxed away from the city doesn’t seem to have that feeling anymore. I thought going to the chalet meant going to the beach nearby and relax.  Just us and nature.

The upgraded chalet in block A is larger and more spacious than last time. An oven and bigger fridge has been included. A hot water flask and 4 cups for use. I wonder if the flask was provided years back.

So lonely, no one there now. I’m going back soon.

We Are Not Equal After All04.27.07

Tug of war [via Flickr uploaded by 3amfromkyoto]

I read with interest on modobs’ view on equality of male and female. Previously I had wondered about the role of being a wife. We are still struggling to find that balance in accepting that despite the gender, we are still able to do that job.

I have not been subjected to such behaviours due to being the weaker sex during my years in the IT industry. Not that I know of anyway. However, comments such as “usually girls don’t use PDA phones”, “but both of u are women, you should be able to bond” among others. Why can’t I like using a PDA phone? If that other women find herself unable to communicate with me or both of us have totally different viewpoints and unable to respect that, how on earth do I bond with her?

What I prefer to think is that fighting for equality is an uphill task. What we should fight for is acceptance of individual tastes. What say you?

Umbrella Disappeared at Work04.26.07

It rained heavily this morning while on my way to work. I brought my Hang Ten umbrella and placed it near the pantry so as not to block anyone. I have never lost an umbrella at work and this is my 1st time losing it, new company that I just joined some more! :(
I’m very upset. There was another umbrella of the same colour but different brand. I’m not sure if that person wanted a new umbrella because the state of that umbrella was not that good. Perhaps it was a mistake but I’m still upset.

If that person returned to me by today, it meant that it was a genuine mistake. If it still isn’t returned after my announcement on the online board, it means that the person is out to steal new umbrellas. If I find out who that is, I’ll never trust that person! GAH!

Stereotyped04.25.07

The violent events that unfolded in Virginia Tech has reaffirmed the belief that Asians are scary. It seems that stereotyping will not go away. In this way, stereotype somehow grows into prejudice against a race, gender, age, height, body size or figures.

The events lead to a journalist publishing the thoughts on our attitudes towards immigrants that the government has been trying so hard to attract to come and work or study. As usual, there are black sheep that just pollute the already small community and making the locals just turned off by their culture or customs. Some have shown the locals that they love to sit  and talk loudly in coffee shops but the drinks in their hands are not bought from the coffee shop.

Others love to take free rides in taxis by being drunk on purpose. And there are others who love to change what they said when confronted with something that they should have done but did not. After several rounds of questions with them, they push the blame to someone who was assigned to ensure that they did the work. Smart move. They are very good at talking to protect themselves.

As such, this has lead to ways at curbing them from working together, some are known to just talk at all times without getting any work done. These are the ones who are best in PR jobs. However, they love the jobs that require little of them so that they can push the work to others.

As an outcast in a foreign country, it would make one depressed because even if you are holding a permanent residency, you are not made welcome in any neighbourhood that is predominantly different from your race. It’s already difficult to adjust to a new country after many years in your birth country for a few years. The prejudice and stereotype make the adjustments even more difficult.

I thought that we are all born as homo sapient? We all come from our mothers. Aren’t we all the same except for skin colour due to the climate?

Must Control Shopping Binge!04.25.07

I’ve been buying too many stuff lately, mostly the prices are above what I used to buy. Heart pain and my pocket’s going to have a big hole if I don’t control the buying/shopping binge.

I bought a new bag as a gift for myself. Early birthday gift, way too early in fact. However, I hope to be using it by next week once I get the time to clear out the rubbish in the current bag. This new bag is definitely the most expensive I’ve bought in the past so far.

For the next few weeks till 7 May (report handing in date), I shall be busy. This weekend is the chalet and I wonder if I will ever get to finish writing that darn report and get it bound.

Tagged - 5 things You Don’t Know About Me04.23.07

I missed out this last sentence on Modobs‘ blog.

1. I prefer to wake up early so that I can bathe, brush my teeth and read the papers. Especially on weekdays, need to smell nice for work, ok?

2. I don’t like glass elevators.

3. I prefer dark coloured bags because they don’t look dirty that fast.

4. I like to sleep as early as possible.

5. I prefer to be tan as opposed to white, healthy tan, that is.

Not going to tag anyone but you can link to this post if you like to do this meme.
