Staying Positive03.31.07

It’s said that opposites attract. Ever heard of staying happy means staying away from negative people? Especially those whose negativity is so strong that even if you are happy, you get weighed down by their supreme depressing thoughts?

We face difficulties at any time and bad things can happen at any time. How do we stay positive during those lousy times? There are certain things that we have control such as allowing our feelings to get the better of us when our path changes.

Be depressed when we have no jobs. Mope at home all day and refuse to see anyone despite our family’s best intentions. Every sentence out of our mouths is negative such as “There’s no job”, “The location is not good”, “Low pay”, “I don’t like my potential boss”, “I never get any promotion”, “There’s no perm, only temp or contract”, “Contract doesn’t have any security”, etc.

Lao Zha Bor Exists03.30.07

Anyone watched Just Follow Law? Remember the old mother of Tanya Chew? The one who proclaimed that she had a blog too after transferring the money to her daughter? The site exists. It’s called Real Lao Zha Bor Speaks. I don’t know if it was injected into the movie to promote it or something.

The English is quite coherent, injected with Singlish. She loves to take photos from the posts in the blog. Let’s see if there will be more photos of the stars she will be working with :D

I Must Be Crazy03.29.07

I have gone mad. I must be. I just accepted a 12-month contract that will need me to commute for at least 45 minutes of train ride and 20 minutes of walking. That’s just one way. Add up the return trip, I’m using about 3 hours on travel to and from work. Crazy right?

I wasn’t expecting anything like that because I was looking for temp job but none came. The thing is that I had registered last Wednesday because a friend of mind recommended it and I decided why not spread out my resume to them too and see how. This very nice lady called me on Monday saying that she had this contract position which my profile fits. I fit but the location was very far. I asked her which company and nearly fainted at the mention of the location and she realised that I do live very far indeed. After a few more questions, I decided since no temp jobs, why not take this contract job which would pay me very well.

I had a call on Tuesday saying that I was shortlisted for the interview on Wednesday. That was very fast. The best part I love about it was that there was no form to fill in my details again. I arrived too early; 1 hour ahead, because I kept thinking it was 2pm when I had put it 2.30pm in my PDA and in bold. -_-|||

During the interview, it was the first time that I could feel at ease. Usually I have butterflies in my stomach and cold hands. Here, the lady who interviewed me was very nice and understanding.

This morning, the lady from the agent called me to clarify certain things and later in the evening, I was informed that I got the job. Best news is, she managed to raise my pay to the range I had in mind since it is a contract and I have no benefits such as free doctor’s consultation or dental claims. Speaking of dental claims, I forgot to ask if I could claim the amount.

I’m delirious and yet I feel the commuting time is crazy. However, I hope to complete the contract at least. It’ll be good if my contract is continued and I do get a pay raise with each renewal. Maybe by then, I’d be able to afford my own car. But not the road tax, parking fees and petrol. :(

Let Me Hug Your Leg, Please?03.29.07

Die very ugly. This term is used when something goes wrong. Horribly wrong. Or not done and you have to suffer the consequences. I’m going to Bangkok in a few days and the report is stuck again. The trip to the library yielded some paragraphs. Now after reading them, they look more like stories.

Why must the report be so huge and some more an individual project? Stuck again. Buddha has decided that I hug his legs too much and told me to find some way myself. Yes, Buddha. But can let me hug your leg one more time?

Otters Hand in Hand03.28.07

I have to open my mouth wide in amazement because these otters are floating on their backs and holding hands while they float around and nap. I can’t believe that they are so cute!

Choatic Weather03.26.07

It’s another hot day and I’m melting again. I’m wishing that I can stay in the air-con room without incurring any costs. Big fat hope here. I’m at home, so the bills are from my utilities bills. The fan isn’t doing its job. Maybe it’s because the temperature has risen to incredible high that the air coming from it is warm too. Effects of the global warming.

Almost Had It03.26.07

I received a call from someone asking if I was able to take up a tuition assignment. No introduction from where she was calling from or who she was. I was stunned in the 1st 5 seconds before recovering my wits to ask her what subjects and the level I was supposed to tutor. I agreed to take it up since it’s twice a week although the pay was little. I had to earn something, hadn’t I?

She said she’d get back to me. She called me back in 5 minutes saying, “Hi, it’s me again.” Yea but I was thinking who are you? Never introduce yourself. It’s rude. The parent wanted fixed mornings and was unable to accept evenings. Oh well, it was fine by me. Maybe she needed a full time tutor instead.

On reflection, maybe she was not trained to be a tuition coordinator. On the other hand, maybe I should take up tuition coordinator as my part time. I would be having 2 part time jobs and earn some cash. Maybe not since I like giving tuition instead of calling the parent and tutor back and forth.

Nervous03.26.07

I’m so nervous about tonight. My first tutoring after 8 years. That’s very long. I don’t know if I’m able to field the child’s queries later. I sure hope I can continue to tutor the child. I need to earn some cash. I can’t be idling at home without any income.

I have done some research on the subject’s syllabus just in case as a reference. I pray for tonight.

Japanese Translator Needed03.25.07

If anyone’s good in translating English to Japanese and wants to earn some spare cash, this could be it for you. It’s unfortunate that I didn’t take my Japanese lessons in poly that serious, I might be very good in it too
I don’t earn any commission from the thread starter, just recommending something. If the thread starter refused to pay for your services, do let me know.

Vandal Caught!03.25.07

There’s this little boy, well, not little, just cheeky and out to play with his crayons. He vandalised almost every floor with “<insert unit number> $150000000″. Goes to show something doesn’t it? He’s not caught just seen; same as caught anyway. He was happily writing similar to what you would see on the walls when someone owes the loansharks. He had just completed his final touches when he turned around to find my mom staring at him sternly. He disappeared down the stairs in a flash.

See what he did? Any old how write the amount without any thoughts.  A pity my mother didn’t capture him with her handphone camera. Would have been nice to see his actual expression
Magic Number [via Multiply uploaded by wishbone]

The parents better do something about him. Either he’s suppressed at home from using his artistic skills on paper or his friends dared him.
