My plan to sleep until 8am today was spoilt by an aunty who called my handphone looking for “GAN DANG ah? GAN DANG?” Gan Dang is potato in Hokkien. I was very irritated and replied, “KA SALA LA!” Wrong call la! The stupid aunty just cut off the line without any apologies. Look, you disturbed my sleep and still cut me off without apologising? It is RUDE one!

I should have just cut her off without replying. Spoilt my beauty sleep. I want to get rid of the dark rings, ok?! How can look for potato with a phone call? You look for potatoes out there in the farm where they grow them, ok!

I’ve been up since 7am. Idiot!

Since I can’t sleep, I tried my bluetooth headset that DD gave me for my Chrismas present. It can’t be used because it’s not discoverable. GAH! Now I have to go to the shop to exchange? How can like that?!

I miscalculated the time this morning. I was checking if there were any emails and forgot the time I was supposed to leave the house and meet DD. I gave him a morning call at 8.15 and then it hit me. I was supposed to be out of the house at that time! Duh!

Rushed through my packing and hoping that I’ve packed everything. The trained arrived just as I reached the platform. Cool. It’s not everytime though.

The good thing about watching movies on weekday mornings? You don’t have to buy the tickets early. I hope there’s good seats when we buy the tickets later.

I love it when my PDA phone comes with Word Mobile. I can store my thoughts as they come.

I’m so happy! I’m on long leave! I get to enjoy Friday to Tuesday! If I still have the leaves, I would have taken this week off. Unfortunately, with the recent change of company, I can’t take any leaves until January 9th! That’s if I receive a confirmation letter. I hope I do.

Then I can take another short break somewhere again. That’s if I still have extra cash to go Bangkok or Hong Kong for shopping.

The broken cables have caused me unable to do much at work. There didn’t seem to be any way to connect to international sites by Singnet. I wonder why. I’ve yet to find a solution to a problem. It’s a good thing that it’s no urgent. If it were at the other company, the connections may be up in half a day.

I’m going to enjoy my long weekend. Oh, about the project. Curses.

I had totally limited Internet access in the office thanks to the earthquake in Taiwan. I was handicapped at the lack of it! I couldn’t do much except solve user problems. I don’t understand why users only send in their problems when it’s nearly knocking off time. There are users who do it early in the morning. That’s fine by me. I get to solve it on the day and you can use it immediately.

However, I don’t get it why some people only do it in the late afternoon. It’s not as if they’re the only ones with families to go home to. Being an IT staff does not mean that our families are the computers and servers. We have dates too. We don’t like to do OT as much as you too. However, in order not to interrupt the company’s core business, we have to do OT. We can only upgrade servers during unearthly hours such as 12am to 7am.

In other circumstances, we may get to do it after office hours such as from 6pm to 3am. Our families and friends can’t understand why we have to do such things. If you don’t understand, please, think about your family member being subjected to such situations. How would you feel?

Back to my point on no Internet access, I was really at a lost. I guess we have depended on the Internet for a long time. I couldn’t use MSN the whole day. I thought it was something to do with just MSN until I heard my colleagues saying something about Taiwan’s earthquake. Great. Just great. So Singnet doesn’t have another line to connect to?

So, there’s no contingency plan.

Whenever my colleagues ask about my marital status, the next question would be, “So, when are you going to get married?” First, both of us must be prepared to face each other more than once a week in the same home.

Second, we must be prepared to live with each other’s quirks and habits. Third, we must be prepared to part with the huge amount of money to the people who will be letting us hold our wedding at the venue. Fourth, we must be prepared for the next question, “Will you be living with the in-laws?” Depending on your answer, “Yes.” The next question is “You can get along with one another?”

If your answer was “No” to living with in-laws, the next question is “Where will you be living?” and “How big is the flat?”, “How much you paying per month and how long?”. Fifth, we must be prepared to answer the next question, “You want kids?” Other questions include; “How many you want?”, “Boy or girl?” to “What? No kids?!”

It’s a wet morning. The rain started an hour before I was going to step out for work. It’s not that heavy or light. It’s moderate but enough to cause minor floods on the uneven pavements. My shoes got wet. My pants got wet up to my knees.

When I got to my workplace, the pavements and roads were flooded. I had to walk in the puddles, I can’t fly. If I were to be able to fly, I will definitely save my transport fees, a lot. Unfortunately, I can’t fly. No one was in the office and I was the 1st one to open the door. Not the main door anyway. I feel so sleepy that I wish that I’m at home right now, sleeping away my dark eye rings.

I’ve redeemed my webcam from Creative and just tested it. The video quality’s so-so, what can you expect from a free one, right? I can use it on MSN. I wonder if I can use it to record videos? There’s only drivers software to install in the given CD, so I don’t think it can record anything.

Maybe I need to find out. I may end up buying a better quality webcam in future once the transfer rate for video and audio has been upped to faster and smoother transfer rate. Don’t you just hate it when the voice is 1st heard followed by the mouth actually moving? It’s almost like lip-synch. Time for work. To think I wish to be on leave this week.

I’m not sure if the seller was trying to sell oranges or bananas. Is the price the same for oranges and bananas?

As a follow up to my previous post this afternoon. My mood is now officially moody, the only icon I can find here is
I completed my task at 4.15pm but it was too late because DD had plans for the evening already. I’ve missed quite a few movies with him and it’s getting frustrating right now. When I’m free, he’s not and he’s working on Christmas Eve and Christmas. When he’s free, I’m not *@#&$!

All I can do is pray that I will be free from now on.

It’s been raining for a few days now. I’ve been doing OT for the past few days too. Sianz. Last night was the latest I had reached home. You know the story of Cinderella? I reached home just before midnight by taxi. I was so tired and no energy to do anything else except sleep. This month has taken a toil. It killed my passion for IT totally. I feel like giving up but I don’t know where else to go. It’s now 1.15pm and I’m at home. The rain just started again and I’ve to take the taxi to work soon.
I don’t like to work on weekends, it’s lousy to work on a grey afternoon especially on weekends. Now, I’ve to to the office. I want my life back soon. I can’t take any of this any longer. I haven’t been able to see DD even though it’s December whereby you’re supposed to be free.

I ought to seriously think about moving to another line.
